PACC Opens Ahead of the Curve With a Celebratory Launch
Published on 02 December 2025
Performance Arts Culture Cessnock (PACC) has officially launched Ahead of the Curve, welcoming artists, supporters, and community members to an opening event that highlighted the vibrancy of contemporary quiltmaking.
Curated by Tara Glastonbury, the exhibition brings together a striking selection of modern quilts that place the curve—both technically and creatively—at their centre. Guests at the opening were among the first to explore works that showcase the curve’s fluidity, complexity, and its enduring appeal for makers pushing the boundaries of their craft.
Throughout the gallery, visitors experienced quilts that move between improvisation and precision, bold colour and subtle detail. The featured artists embrace risk and innovation, using the curve not only as a visual motif but as a way to rethink process and expand the expressive language of textile art.
The opening event offered a lively preview of this compelling survey of contemporary quiltmaking, with attendees engaging closely with the works and the ideas behind them. Check out the images below!
This event was proudly sponsored by Lisa McGuigan Wines.
Ahead of the Curve is now open at PACC until 31 January. Please note the exhibition will be closed from midday 24 December, reopening on 5 January at 9am.
