Family favourites, classics, and special themed events, affordable movies right here in Cessnock. Performance Arts Culture Cessnock (PACC) has announced a new Cinema Club program for 2026, bringing not just a couple of holiday films, but a regular, year-round film program to the Cessnock community. With no local cinema currently operating, the initiative responds directly to community demand for affordable and accessible movie experiences for all ages. The program begins in the summer school holidays with the screening of Happy Feet, the story of the cute and fussy dancing Emperor Penguin, followed by roughly a film a month throughout the year. Movies include family friendly flicks, weekday morning sessions and special evening events such as a Valentines Special, Halloween and Christmas themes.
“Having family films during the school holidays is such a great idea,” said local parent Michael. “It means we don’t have to travel for a simple, affordable day out with the kids, and they get really excited.” The aim is to offer something for everyone, that is accessible and low cost, while making the most of the great auditorium space in the PACC hub.
“This is something the community has been asking for,” said the PACC team. “Cinema Club is a way to bring people together, enjoy films locally, and make use of the great facilities we already have.”
