Art for Kids: Be a Film Maker for a Day

6.jpg

Be a Film Maker for a Day is an imaginative school holiday workshop where children learn how movies are made by creating one themselves. Throughout this full-day program, students design characters, build sets, and work as a team to produce a short stop motion film.

Children will make puppets and props using art and craft materials, create simple sets, and learn the basics of filming stop motion animation. After planning and building their world, it’s time for action as students take turns working the camera and bringing their characters to life.

At the end of the session, the group watches the first draft together. A professionally edited final version will be shared on YouTube after the workshop so families can enjoy the finished film.

This workshop is perfect for young storytellers, creative thinkers and kids who love craft, design or making movies.

Activity 1: Create puppets and props for the short film using art and craft materials
Activity 2: Build sets and learn how to film a stop-motion movie
Activity 3: Action! Film the movie, taking turns operating the camera and animating puppets/characters

We’ll watch the first draft together at the end of the session, and the final edited film will be uploaded to YouTube once professionally completed.
